Young persons Practitioner (3945)

Helmsdale, Highlands
Circa £20,500 per annum
Part-Time, Fixed Term 15 hours per week ( days negotiable)

Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.

The role

Our support service in the north of Highland seeks to work collaboratively with primary schools and other agencies to increase pupil attendance and attainment. We do this by focussing on the individual child's emotional wellbeing and design and deliver impactful services, activities and support to meet the needs of individual children and families within schools, at home, and the local community. To achieve this, we will work with schools and other agencies to understand their priorities and needs within their school, home and local community and put in place the right interventions that will make a real difference.

 As a young person's practitioner your role will be to create an Individual children's plan – agreed with the young person, family and school - linking them into school activities & wider community activities.  Work with peer groups, supporting school work and homework completion.  Whole-family work e.g. school attendance, inclusion, positive behaviour management and relationship building. 

 

*The role is based at Helmsdale Primary School but you will be set up to work from home with a laptop and mobile phone during school closure times*


You will make a difference by:

-Being family and child-centred.

-Identifying the needs of families and responding to them.

-Working collaboratively with partner agencies.

-Promoting numeracy, literacy, and health and wellbeing.


You will need:

-SVQ Level 3 / or equivalent or willingness to work towards.

-Experience of working directly with children and families, either individually or in a group setting

-Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

-The ability to maintain written records to a high standard.

-The ability to coordinate referral, assessment and support planning.
